Provides a safe swimming environment by monitoring participants while they are around the pool; set up pool for various activities, laps, classes, etc.; remains alert and uses all senses while guarding; communicates and enforces all pool rules and regulations; reports potentially dangerous elements to the Facilities Supervisor/Physical Education/Athletics; performs lifesaving procedures when necessary; screens participants regarding pre-participation showers; assists instructor(s) with class upon request; works as a team with other lifeguards during special events; attends all scheduled staff meetings; performs other job duties as assigned.
Lifeguard Certification; First Aid Certification; CPR and AED Certification or Basic Life Saving Certification from a nationally recognized organization. Applicants will be required to pass a pre-skills test prior to official hire.
Must be physically fit and a good swimmer; excellent observation skills; ability to act calm and quickly in emergency situations; must be able to stand for long periods of time in excess of 1 hour; must have the ability to lift or carry in excess of 50lbs; must be able to walk, bend, stoop, crawl or climb.
