Captures and organizes medical fee tickets from various offsite locations where electronic charge capture is not available. Provides timely data entry of the fee tickets into the practice management system for medical billing. Applies general knowledge ofÂ CMSÂ regulations and third party payer guidelines to apply correct billing practices to medical claims.
Completes patient registration when necessary in order to create patient account for medical billing. Includes verification of insurance using insurance eligibility tool. Seeks out patient facesheets when necessary from affiliated locations.
Evaluates and researches some claim edits that result in suspected medical claims. Corrects claim edits in order to generate accurate medical claims. Responds to Third Party Request for documentation needed to process billing.
Utilizes reconciliation tools and logs to assist with charge reconciliation to ensure capture of all hospital and ambulatory services for medical billing. Researches missed encounters and alerts coders to missed charge capture opportunities for charge abstraction.
Periodically posts payments that have been collected from offsite locations. Prepares deposit using established procedures for transfer toÂ PMO.
Performs other duties as assigned.
