Responsible for follow-up insurance billing and collection activities, verifying accuracy and completeness of claims, contacting insurance companies, and other related duties to expedite payments from various payers for physician services.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform collection follow-up duties for third party payers to ensure timely and accurate payment of physician charges.
Use Epic to review invoices as presented to assure collection. As appropriate, review other invoices, registration and visits across the entire account and take any action needed to secure reimbursement.
Review correspondence and remittances for rejections and verification of accuracy.
Work and resolve invoices rejected by third-party payers as the appear in rejection views.
Refer invoices/accounts to departments as appropriate to resolve appeal-related rejections.
Respond to questions and requests received from insurance companies.
Assist with assigned special projects involving A/R Review.
Interact with internal, as well as clinical department staff, to discuss payer and reimbursement issues.
Note and report obstacles recurring problems and errors encountered to management.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
High school diploma or equivalent high school certification with two to three years of related experience in bookkeeping/accounting and/or medical collection setting.
Experience with Epic.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Working knowledge of computer billing systems.
Familiarity with ICD10 and CPT4 coding.

This position is in the Department of WU Physicians Billing Services. This position is for the Medical School Campus.
This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week.
