Internal Number: 3060890 ![]() Webster University Position Number: S1261 Job Description Summary: The graduate assistant is an integral part of the Office of Student Engagement. Functions include training and supervision, program planning and implementation, and leadership development. As a member of the Student Engagement staff, the graduate assistant helps to achieve departmental goals, as well as those of the Division of Student Affairs. This position has an expected time commitment of 20 hours/week, including office hours, meetings, and program attendance. August 15, 2022 - May 19, 2023 appointment) Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree Must be accepted to a graduate program at Webster University Must enroll in 9 credit hours of graduate courses per semester Must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA Experience in student programming: knowledge of program production, promotion, budgeting; creativity for initiating new programs; ability to work weekends and nights as the job requires. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to relate and work well with students. Valid U.S. drivers license Preferred Qualifications An interest in a career in college unions and/or student activities and an ability to make a two-year commitment to the Office of Student Engagement (preferred). Essential Duties Under guidance of the Director, oversee Campus Activities, the programming unit of the department. Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate Program Managers; monitor event expenses, and program evaluation. Ensure that Campus Activities programs are meeting departmental goals and student needs. Such programs include: films, lectures, intramural sports activities, lunchtime activities, and trips to local cultural institutions. Lead their staff to seek out co-sponsorship of activities with other departments and student organizations. Work with entertainment agencies and professional associations to continually improve the program opportunities for Campus Activities; maintain current program files. Assist with major campus programs such as Welcome Week, Involvement Fair, Headliner Speaker Series, Spirit Weekend. Assist with staff training and other department-wide efforts. Conduct research of activities and programs to continually meet the needs of Webster University constituents. Attend professional student activities conferences to help students gather event ideas and foster relationships with other student and staff programmers.
